Jessica Lynn New Haven Concert reviews
Ray's Performance Went Far Beyond My Expectations
I was blown away at our first attendance at one of my little cousin's concerts. I have to say, if I could have changed two things, I would ask Jessica Lynn to speak louder when talking to the audience and wish the people around me in the audience would have had more respect for the artist.
They talked and laughed incessantly and it made it very difficult to enjoy Ray's solo warm-up performance. I was also impressed with the set, part of the Ouroboros performance. Great visual, WOW!
I found that I found Jessica's performance of songs from the Ouroboros album better live than on the CD. I've never experienced that before. Usually it's the other way around. I also had the pleasure of sitting next to someone who is a HUGE fan of Jessica's and who was obviously enjoying the performance immensely.
At one point, I asked her what she thought of the new album - that to my mind it was a radical departure from his earlier work. She just smiled and said to her it was an example of his range. Excellent point, I thought. Jessica did not disappoint, and I am so glad that my wife and I were able to see her perform live.
One other small point of criticism, and this is not to Jessica so much as it is to the venue. Jessica was in shadow most of the concert. They had an overhead light, which was not the best choice in my opinion for lighting the star of the performance. Now maybe Jessica didn't want a spotlight on her, but I would have liked if she was illuminated a bit better from the front so that we could see her better.
